The productivity of project teams, management teams or departments can be severely impaired by conflicts if problems materialize at the psychosocial level. In team mediation, equal importance must be accorded to both the material and the relational aspects. By analyzing the informal hierarchy, clarifying roles and adapting dysfunctional "rules of the game", it is possible to restore a good working environment and boost productivity.
It is the nature of any business organization that differences will arise (for example) between the works council and the board of directors or between purchasing and quality assurance. Conflicts can develop between teams if the respective parties are unable to deal constructively with the potential for conflict that is inherent to the system. By bringing in professional conflict management, it is possible, on the one hand, to defuse personal and social tensions and, on the other hand, to develop new forms of cooperation between the various groups.
